BEARS GIVE TO CHARITIES THROUGH JERSEY AUCTIONS

(Hershey, PA) — Throughout the season the HERSHEY BEARS wore specialty jerseys that were auctioned off after their respective game; with proceeds benefiting local charities close to the BEARS organization. All fans in attendance, on the auction nights, were invited to place bids on each jersey. Each jersey was then awarded to the highest bidder and then signed by the respected player. Each year, the jersey auctions bring in a significant amount of money and this year was no different.

On October 20, the BEARS wore a special 70th Anniversary jersey to benefit the Juvenile Diabetes Research and the Hershey Junior Bears. Then on October 28, the chocolate and white wore Breast Cancer warm up jerseys, with the money being donated to Breast Cancer Research.

A Christmas jersey was worn on December 22, with the proceeds donated to the United Way of the Capital Region and the United Way of Lebanon County. On January 26, the BEARS wore a Washington Capitals jersey to benefit the MS Society. Finally, Hershey wore a Throwback jersey on March 29. Proceeds from this auction were donated to World Blindess and Rett Syndrome.

This season, the HERSHEY BEARS hockey club has raised more than $135,000 for local charities and organizations. This total could not have been reached without the generous support from the fans. The HERSHEY BEARS Hockey Club would like to thank our fans for their generosity and support that has been given to the jersey auctions over the years. Together, the BEARS and their fans are making a difference in the lives of many.
